Demolishing at height - challenging project at a department store in Rotterdam

Disassemble at height

At a department store in downtown Rotterdam, the air handling unit needed to be replaced. The old cabinet had to be removed before a new one could be installed.

Easier said than done, because this air handling cabinet was located on the 3rd floor. Moreover, the cabinet was in a small space and consisted of heavy awkward parts. A great challenge for the DCC team.

We started removing the asbestos. After we removed the asbestos, we proceeded to disassembly. With an experienced team of three men, we dismantled the air handling unit in portable parts.

Disposal of parts

The heavy and awkward parts not only had to be taken apart, but also removed. By means of an electric crane placed in a courtyard, the parts were lifted outside. A beautiful image in the middle of Rotterdam and also a sustainable solution.

During the work we took into account the surroundings and activities in and around the department store. Due to our working method and work plan, the work was carried out without inconvenience.
