For a client in the food and cosmetics industry, we carried out various works, with the chromium-6 coating on the installations as a particular challenge.
Setting up the work site
Before starting, we first set up the work site. We laid protective plastic driving plates and placed a liquid-tight container. We also positioned drip trays and absorbent granulate strategically to catch any leaks and keep the work environment clean. Only then did we begin dismantling the switchgear cabinets.
Dismantling the cabinets
Dismantling required precision and care, particularly because of the chromium-6 coating. We used various hand tools and the overhead crane to lift and position the cabinets safely. By carefully wrapping the underside of the cabinets in foil, we caught any oil leaks.
Removing the cabinets
Using the overhead crane, we moved the cabinets to the exit and placed them safely on pallets. With a pick-and-carry crane we transported them to ground level, where they were placed in a liquid-tight container — ensuring safe and environmentally sound disposal.
Disposing of released materials responsibly
In our projects, not only the demolition but also the processing of materials is a crucial part of the work. The chromium-6-containing materials were transported with the utmost care to our site in Spijkenisse. There, using a method we developed ourselves, we made them chromium-6-free in a safe and responsible way.
Result
With a structured approach and expert execution, we brought this project to a successful close as well — to the full satisfaction of the client.
