Between the Wilhelm Tellplaats and the Wilhelm Tellhof in Oudeland (Hoogvliet-North) was located the shopping and housing complex, which we were able to demolish in November 2018. The outdated complex was partially attached to the parking garage of the nearby supermarket and to inhabited buildings.
In places where there is a lot of activity, such as this shopping center, it is very important to take into account anyone who might be inconvenienced in any way by the work. Careful planning and good safety measures are therefore very important in order to cause as little inconvenience as possible. But also to be able to work efficiently.
In order to plan properly, we first personally visited the Wilhelm Tell site. We first carefully analyzed the site, the area and the complex to be demolished. We also mapped out what obstacles we would encounter. Based on our findings, we submitted the complete plan in accordance with specifications to the client and were allowed to start quickly.
The first step was to cordon off the area with construction fencing to ensure the safety of shoppers and local residents. Once that was done, we began clearing the inside of the complex.
Once the complex was empty, we were able to begin sawing the structure loose and temporarily supported all loose parts, such as canopies. Then it was up to the crawler crane with concrete shears to cut up and demolish the reinforced concrete. Our tire machine with sorting peg organized all the demolished material and filled the various waste containers.
Because part of the building was attached to a parking garage of the former supermarket, we had to manually demolish a section there before the crawler crane with concrete shears could do its job.
We demolished the retail and residential complex to ground level and then proceeded with the foundation floors and then demolition of the piles. We digitally measured the spots where the piles normally stood. Then we neatly restored all the paving to its former state to deliver the project.
All work took a total of 6 weeks. And we can again say with full conviction: Your project, efficiently executed.
